Gratitude
“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”
—Voltaire
2020 will go down as one of the hardest years we all have faced — but having faced it together, we can take solace in the simple act of gratitude and begin to share this with family, loved ones, friends, and those who helped to make our struggles easier. This season there are degrees of separation, but the distance will not lessen the impact showing gratitude can make in everyone’s lives.
While this season tends to remind everyone to say thank you and be appreciative of the kind acts that are done for us, let us not forget that gratitude should be shown year-round. Especially this year, as essential workers and medical professionals, worked tirelessly to ensure and protect our new normal—and making sure that we were still able to get a good meal in!
Let us honor those that are taken for granted and cast a light on their services—not just for a single season or through this rough spot that has been this year, but year-long. Their services won’t end once we enter the new normal—and “essential” is removed from their titles, as they will continue to help us do and be better every day.
